The Argentine agro-industrial sector had a remarkable performance in 2024 in terms of exports, reaching a total of US$ 9.637 billion, representing a 26% increase compared to the previous year, according to the latest report from the Argentine Agro-Industrial Council. This growth was consolidated in December, a month in which exports increased by 35% compared to the same period in 2023, totaling US$ 3.550 billion, which means US$ 925 million more than the previous year.
Among the sectors that experienced the greatest relative growth are the Sugar-Alcohol sector, Cotton sector, Other Horticultural, and Wheat. Despite improvements in climatic conditions, it is important to highlight that the prices of the main agricultural products exported by Argentina decreased, which affected the volumes in dollars.
Regarding the Soy, Wheat, and Corn complexes, they were the main drivers of the year-on-year increase, while Legumes and Barley moderated this growth. Furthermore, the report highlights that the Real Multilateral Exchange Rate (BCRA) decreased by 3% compared to the previous month, although the annual average for 2024 was 2% below that recorded in 2023.
